DR. GOWRI PRIYA CHIDAMBARANATHAN
Scientist Gr-II, Immunology & stem cell laboratory
Email : firstname.lastname@example.org
Dr. Gowri Priya Chidambaranathan received her Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Master of Computer Application from Madurai Kamaraj University in 1994, 1996 and 2001 respectively. She also received a Post Graduate Diploma in Ecology and Environment (DLP) from Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment, New Delhi in 1998.
She joined Aravind Medical Research Foundation in 1997 and worked on tubercular uveitis and leptospiral uveitis. Her Ph.D thesis was on "Aetiopathogenesis of uveitis associated with leptospirosis". Under this project she identified leptosprial lipopolyssacharide to be a specific antigen for serodiagnosis (Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2003) and to be a possible causative factor for the pathogenesis (Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, 2008). She received her Ph.D in Biomedical Sciences from Madurai Kamaraj University in 2007.
During this period she also underwent training at Defence Research and Development Establishment, Gwalior and Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Currently, she is working on the generation of stem cell rich limbal/ buccal epithelium under xenobiotic-free condition with GMP compliance for corneal surface reconstruction, understanding the limbal stem cell biology with reference to characterization of limbal niche factors that are thought to be responsible for their maintenance and expansion and to identify their molecular signature using an enriched stem cell population. Her another project is related to elucidating the host immune response to leptospiral infection in uveitis patients and on molecular mimicry between leptospiral and human lens proteins.
